Day 6 – Tuesday (Martes) – 10/4/2011 - Playa Coronado

Up early today, about 4:30am, was raining while we had coffee but stopped in time so we could get a good hour walk in before we met up with our friend Richard for our Real Estate Road Trip.
We started our trip with Richard at about mile marker 72 a town called Bajeco.  We ended our journey in an area called Buenaventura mile marker 123.  Bajeco, low priced around 95k for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath place.  Buenaventura, high priced starting around 450k for a 2 bedroom, 2 bath villa up to multi-millions.
After our Real Estate journey we met up with a local Panamanian guy named Cecelio and we all went to lunch at a local restaurant in Playa Coronado called Del Chef (big expat hangout).  4 lunches (I mean big lunches) with drinks and tip for $24.
We were home by 3:30pm so Nancy and I decided to go for another walk up to the Coronado Mall.  Stopped by the Cable & Wireless Store to check on if a deposit was needed, they first told me the other day that a $500 deposit was necessary (maybe because I am a Gringo) but the gal there said she was going to call on my behalf to see what they could do – THEY WAIVED THE WHOLE DEPOSIT, NADA, NOTHING!!!!!.  We went to buy fish and we got 1lb for $3.00 (not a typo) and 1 large loaf of Cuban bread for 0.62 (not a typo).  We headed home for some homemade Sangria and a couple of 0.50 cent beers.
We had an exciting night tonight, at about 8:30pm the police came through the neighborhood (keep in mind we are the only ones here) and they were beeping the horn out in front of our home, they wanted us to go outside (OK now this was a bit scary – they speak no English, we speak no Spanish), but what they were actually doing was making sure we were OK as they were looking for someone, I guess a couple of people slipped by our own security and got in the complex somehow and they wanted us to come outside to show that we were not being held against our will inside the house (What a relief that was!!!).  It was real nice to have the police looking out for us like that – we tip our hats to them.
