Well believe it or not we are all caught up with today's blog post. yikes what a chore that was typing all this info to catch up. OK today was field trip day to the US Embassy at the old Clayton Air Force Base, now known as the City of Knowledge. Used the GPS on my phone and for the most part it got us there. The process of renewal is easy, go through two security checkpoints, grab a number and wait for the next teller, like the deli. A passport renewal costs $110 and all you need when you are overseas like this is your old passport (which of course they give back to you because you should always have it on your person) where in the US you actually mail it in with your application and money. They said it will be about 3 weeks, then when it arrives they email you and you go pick it up, bring your old passport with you along with the $100 receipt they give you. They will stamp your old passport cancelled but give it back to you. The whole process today took about 10 minutes. It was nice to go in and talk straight English, no Spanish (except for teh security checkpoints - go figure)
We then wanted to find the Albrook Mall, this to is situated on the old Albrook Airbase where they turned the whole airport terminal into a huge mall, it is pretty amazing what they did here. So we poked around and then wanted to get out of teh city before rush hour, so we loaded the map on the GPS and away we went, well not so fast in the city there are not too many street signes, if any at all so the GPS may have had it right but I did not see any street signs to turn on the right streets so that was interesting, but somehow we made it out of there - I am here typing this aren't I?
over for now
