Day 5 – Monday (Lunes) – 10/3/2011 - Playa Coronado

Another rainy start to the day – I will tell you, the Coronado area is in what is referred to the Dry Arc, so although it may and probably will rain everyday during wet season (March – November) it rains far less here than anywhere else in the country.  Also, the rain seems to be late in the afternoon, late at night, overnight, or early morning so it really doesn’t mess up your day plans at all.
Today we made our way to Panama City to meet up with our friend Richard and to drive to our bank in an area of the city called Costa Del Este, a pretty exclusive and beautiful area, we got the letter from the bank (they do have English speaking bankers) so we tried to get the cell phone I wanted in the city but that was an awful mess, you see the Panamanians got paid last Friday so today they all seemed to be in every store buying stuff (word to the wise, do not try to plan anything on paydays or the following few days afterward – too many crowds).  We decided to leave the cell phone purchase until we returned to Playa Coronado area.
On our drive back we stopped in a Super Extra, this is a huge store like a Super Walmart, to poke around and check a few prices (more on that later).  We headed straight to the cell phone store (Cable & Wireless) and presented my letter and proof of address (water bill), we started the process of ordering my phone as they did not have one in stock (Samsung Galaxy S II – I wanted this phone because it has the ability to run as an Internet Hotspot for my laptop at home) order was placed and they said it would take about 1 week.
By the time we got home it was just about supper time, settled down to eat plopped some Billy Joel on the computer and cracked a bottle of 187 Chandon Champagne (It seemed like it was time to celebrate our journey to Panama).  O yeah, we also started to make popcorn the old fashion way tonight, you know, a pot with a cover, some oil, some popping corn, light the stove, shake it a few times, listen for the popping to stop, and wala homemade popcorn (Who needs Orville anyways).
Meeting up with our friend Richard tomorrow for a trip to investigate some Real Estate, 8am sharp, which in Panama means about 9am or so.
