Exciting day today. Not sure where to begin so let's dig in. I was in the beach area heading into the city and 15 minutes into the drive the car died. The radiator hose blew off the radiator and that was all she wrote.
Now the fun began.
This happened at 9:15am and by 3:30pm my car was towed to Panama City and I am at the condo where we are staying.
Let's fill in the blanks.
As soon as we broke down we had a couple of local folks come to assist, almost immediately. Then one of them called a mechanic friend and he came. We had 3 folks trying to get the hose back on, filling the radiator with water all the while when I was awaiting another Panamanian friend of mine to pick up some anti-freeze coolant to bring it to us. After about 3 hours of nothing working, we decided we needed to tow the car into the local Toyota Shop 10 minutes down the road. Well, they do not do major repairs in this little place so $125 tow into the big city. Once the car was dropped off at the Toyota place I now needed to translate what the heck happened, this is why you have friends that are locals and speak the language as you will learn.
I now have a slip of paper with my Toyota consultants name on it, and a signed repair slip (in Spanish) and they have my car. Pray for the right repairs and I will report back once all is completed.
